On Friday our 5th graders worked alongside the members of St. Paul Lutheran Church to create hundreds of packets of food for "Save my Starving Children". It was a great experience for all who participated. The students learned many things, but some of the most compelling comments made were that the task would not have been possible had they not worked as a team and that is feels better to give than to receive. I was touched by their honest comments and how they internalized what the project was really about. I didn't even mind wearing the hair net.
